Among the first inhabitants of our homestead were the majestic Australorp chickens. Led by our esteemed rooster, Colonel Sander, these birds have become integral to our way of life, providing us with fertile eggs, free-range eggs, and adorable baby chicks.
From the moment we received our first clutch of eggs to the joyous sight of newly hatched chicks, our journey with the Australorps has been one of wonder and discovery. We've marveled at the miracle of life and learned valuable lessons about patience, responsibility, and the interconnectedness of all living things.
New Zealand White Meat Rabbits
We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest members of our homestead family: our New Zealand White meat rabbits. These beautiful creatures are not only adorable companions but also valuable contributors to our sustainable lifestyle.
At Capricorn Homestead, we are passionate about raising animals ethically and responsibly, and our rabbits are no exception. With their gentle nature and fast-growing meat, New Zealand Whites are the perfect addition to our homestead, providing us with a renewable source of high-quality protein.
Our rabbits are raised in spacious, clean Rabbit tractors where they have ample room to hop, play, and exhibit their natural behaviors. We take great care to ensure that they receive a balanced diet consisting of fresh greens, hay, and specially formulated pellets to support their health and well-being.
In addition to their role as meat producers, our rabbits also play a valuable role in our permaculture system. Their manure is rich in nutrients and serves as a natural fertilizer for our gardens, helping us to cultivate healthy, vibrant crops without the need for synthetic chemicals.
